Mackin on a Mission: Our Corporate Wellness Program

At Mackin, we value our team and put a lot of thought into how we can continually improve our collective wellbeing. We want to build a workplace where our employees have strong relationships with colleagues and feel happy at work.

To make this a reality, we always try to go the extra mile to provide the highest quality of services at every level. We offer a holistic range of employee benefits and on-site supports, taking a proactive approach while also having fun!

Here are just some of our current initiatives.

Mental Health Benefits

Mental wellness is something we all need to be mindful of, especially in the current climate. We want to help our team build resilience, making sure they have the tools and resources they need to take care of their mental health.

All our employees have access to mental health benefits, if they should need it. These include:

Work-life Services:

Telephonic consultation with a Work-life Specialist regarding child care resources, parenting, adoption, education resources and elder/adult care resources. Services include personalized searches and referral to verified resources.

LifeCycle Connect Online:

An online resource with information and tools available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Subjects include: addiction, grief & loss, anger management, eating disorders, divorce & domestic issues, child & elder care, dealing with financial troubles, legal issues, career development and many, many more areas of interest.

Behavioral/Mental Health Benefits:

Access to a licensed psychiatrist, psychologist, counselor, or therapist who meets the employee’s needs. Employees can connect by phone, video or in office appointments to suit their preference. These professionals can help manage addiction, depression, stress or anxiety, domestic abuse, grief, and more.

Promoting good mental health habits and ensuring employees have the right support through any work-life issues they may have is one of our top priorities at Mackin.

Fitness and Nutrition Discounts

We all know that regular physical activity can enhance our mood and concentration, increase energy levels, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve our memory, as well as helping us sleep better.

All of our employees can take advantage of discounted rates at a range of gyms, online fitness programs, health apps and trackers and even healthy eating programs. All of these added benefits  make it easier to maintain their health goals and improve their overall wellbeing.

Volunteering

As well as being great for the community, we believe volunteering empowers our team to feel like they can make a difference. We allocate each of our employees eight hours of paid time a year, that they can use to volunteer with a community non-profit organisation of their choice.

The uptake and impact has been phenomenal, with teams running in the San Jose Ice Cream Run to raise money for animal shelters, Walk to End Alzheimer’s, the Rebel Wheelers, Cork’s wheelchair sports teams, and lots more.

My Virtual Mission

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a large majority of our employees are now doing remote work. To help engage and connect with each other as well as keep everyone up and moving we introduced My Virtual Mission to our team. My Virtual Mission is an online fitness challenge, encouraging collaboration among our employees as they work in teams to complete the mission. Employees progress along a virtual pathway each time they exercise, moving closer to the finish line. Our first mission takes place along the Pacfific Coast Highway (PCH).

Adaptable to all abilities, the mission provides numerous different activities so that everyone can participate. Employees can participate as an individual or form a team. Each week employees track their progress along the mission and can even see where others are along the path as well as view some of the sites through Google Street View.

The current mission starts in Big Sur and ends in the Redwood National Forest. The pathway can take up to three months to complete for individuals and there will be lots of prizes and awards along the way.

This initiative is a fun, friendly competition, motivating us all to get out and get moving, while working towards a common goal with our team.

Wellness is an important aspect of life at Mackin and we are proud of the support and initiatives we are able to offer for our employees. Many times in the staffing industry contingent workers are offered less benefits than full-time, internal employees. At Mackin, every employee is offered the same benefits as they are all part of Team Mackin. One of our most important values is that relationships matter. This is not just a statement - at Mackin, it is at the core of everything we do.
